Says no commitment to monthly ₦5,000 stipend, urges members to disregard misinformation
ABUJA – 8th July, 2026
The attention of Working People United (WOPU) has been drawn to a message circulating in some quarters suggesting that the movement has committed to a monthly ₦5,000 stipend for all registered members.
This is to clarify that WOPU has no such commitment.
While WOPU occasionally supports her registered members with data stipends and other forms of modest assistance, the following points are important to note:
1. WoPU’s commitment is for good governance in our Nation.
2. WoPU’s commitment is to ensure correct and accurate information about government deliveries are passed clearly to the working in clear terms.
3. WoPU is committed to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and is mobilizing support for that.
4. Not Monthly: Such support is not provided on a monthly basis.
5. Not Time-Bound: It happens occasionally and is not tied to any fixed schedule.
6. No Fixed Amount: There is no committed amount. Stipend Support for DATA may be higher or lower depending on available resources at the appropriate time.
WOPU is a self-funded, grassroots movement. It is not sponsored by any public fund or organizational fund. Our members are therefore advised not to approach anyone demanding or expecting a monthly stipend, as no such arrangement exists.
Registered members will be duly credited without any notice or information whenever support is available. However, this is entirely at the discretion of the movement and subject to resource availability.
We urge all members and the general public to disregard any information suggesting otherwise.
Thank you for your understanding and continued commitment to the vision of Working People United.
Signed:
Com. Oladapo Sunday Moses
National Secretary, Working People United (WOPU)
